Responsibilities:Ability to design into different price point ranging from entry price to luxury, partnering with product developer to achieve the margin goal.
BUSINESS responsibilities:
- Extensive understanding of fully fashion knitwear, crochet, and seamless knitting: all technics related to the knitwear world.
- Understanding of yarn sizes, machine gauges and knitting technics.
- Full ownership of Knitwear category- Responsible for stitch development, sketches, and initial tech packs.
- Experience in proto garment fittings; and coordinate with PD the follow up and comments to make sure all details are passed with the sense of urgency.
- Yarn selection in partnership with the PD.
- Detail oriented and able to foresee issues before they happen.
- Travel 2 to 4 times a year to the factories
- Design 4 collections including material development per year estimate 30 styles per season across the 2 divisions.
- Manage proto garment fittings; and coordinate follow up and comments to make sure all details are passed as senior leadership requests and on time within the short runway timing.
- Ability to manage direct report including workload balance setting priorities and maintaining the calendar dates.
- Working closely with the Senior Manager of Development on raw material sample yarn ordering in collaboration with the factories and mills.
- Follow the guidance of 2 concept directors.
- Be responsible for filling the necessary design information into our shared PLM : open centric shell and design pages into centric, create artwork files to scales , stitching graphing as needed.
- You have an ability to influence design team (for budget purpose) and earn trust thanks to your expertise.
- Good understanding of knitting time is also necessary to manage your short schedule on runway.
- Work with Senior Manager dev, organize yarn library seasonally and work with yarn agents to get relevant price / information needs.
- Travel to Italy factories to finalize all show samples before the runway.
- 2 runways a year.
- Managing senior leadership and their requests keeping in mind the budget and timing.
- Flexible hours as needed for the runway.
- Working closely with our Italian consultant and the factories in Italy.
- Good understanding of knitting time is also necessary to manage your short schedule on runway.
- Highly detailed and organized with an eye for quality and perfection
- Experience working with contemporary and luxury brands
- Comfortable working in a fluid and creative environment
- Flexible hours as needed for the job
- bachelor’s degree in fashion related field
- 10 + years of experience in fully fashion knitwear field
- Knowledge of garment / pattern construction with an ability to interpret sketches.
- Flexible personality who can change course quickly. Agility
