Job description

24 Seven is partnering with a global sports apparel company to help them find a Senior Researcher to join their team. This is a 12-month contract with a high potential to extend or convert to full-time if it's a good fit with the team. This person will need to be onsite 3-days a week in Beaverton, OR.

Job Description
The Research Lab is a multidisciplinary team of researchers, innovators, and scientists who lead with science to make measurably better performance wear. We deliver validated insights and innovative capabilities to drive the future of products and services. Our evidence-based solutions meet the constantly evolving demands of sport and life. We apply scientific methods and research results to drive new concepts and platforms across multiple Innovation teams.

We’re looking for an experienced teammate to conduct research at the intersection of sport, biomechanics, and robotics. This role will help develop new, innovative products for everyday athletes. To do this, you would work closely with a research team and use biomechanical hardware and software systems to collect, analyze, and interpret data. The successful candidate would bring skills in all these areas, as well as an ability to communicate complex data in simple ways, and an innovators mindset.

Responsabilities
As a researcher, you will be responsible for executing research projects (both applied and basic research) aimed at delivering validated performance insights that will lead to technologically innovative footwear, apparel and equipment that are globally relevant. You will work closely with the Principal Researcher to understand the research plan and vision, then execute the experiments independently. You may also participate in the development of new tools, methods and procedures that will streamline data acquisition. Finally, you will analyze and summarize data from research to communicate findings to the Principal Researcher and research team. A typical week would include meetings with a Principal Researcher to align on the research experiment plan, heads-down work time to operationalize that program, and hands-on laboratory work to collect and analyze the relevant data. It would also include meetings with other research colleagues to align on progress and next steps in the research process.

Qualifications
Requirements for the position include:
• MSc in Biomechanics or related fields including Engineering and Kinesiology, or BS in related fields plus 2 years of experience
• Experience writing programs for biomechanical analyses, signal processing, and statistical analyses (Python, Matlab, R, and/or Javascript)
• Experience using in-lab and field-based biomechanical data collection tools with human test participants
• Effective communication, people, and collaboration skills
• Bias toward action and resilience in the face of challenges
• Experience in robotics or mechatronics is a plus

Nice to haves (not required)
• Detailed understanding of biomechanical principles, experimental designs,
statistical procedures, sport performance, and injury mechanisms
• Experience being a creative scientist (e.g. novel protocols or analytical methods)
• Exposure to industrial research experience preferred
• Knowledge of footwear and equipment product creation processes is a plus
• Experience with wearable devices and signal analysis is preferred
• Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously
