Job description

Job summary:

As a Senior Copywriter, there’s no “day-to-day” in your job. You’ll be tasked with creative solutions through concepting and executing brilliant communications. We work closely with our clients, and your writing will help to steer content on the platform that engages users and shapes product experiences. You understand the bigger picture, and take an informed and empathetic approach to writing. You’re absolutely obsessed with your audience, and keep a user mindset when writing to deliver consistent product narratives at each branding touch point.

You’re able to craft copy deliverables that are effortless to read, engaging, clear, useful and delightful. You’re also comfortable communicating key messaging at any length, from a 32-character headline to long-form blogs. You’ll expertly manage complex, cross-functional projects, and drive best practices for content. You’ll set the pace for the team, providing direction and support to colleagues. You’re entrepreneurial, forward-thinking, solution-oriented, and are always looking for opportunities for growth – for yourself and the team.

Required skills:

- Minimum 5-7 years of relevant industry experience

- Ability to lead briefs with minimal oversight, and guide junior writers where needed

- Undeniable creative chops: you play a critical role in the conceptual phase of projects, and work seamlessly with your team to deliver winning projects

- Thorough understanding of traditional creative processes, while being flexible and proactive, jumping in where needed

- Excellent client presentation skills, demonstrating a clear vision of how the work addresses the client challenge

- Ability to articulate and craft copy, tone of voice guidelines, and copywriting best practices for global audiences, especially Gen Z

- Ability to translate an idea effectively and flawlessly across multiple messaging touchpoints

- A love of collaborating with your team members – creative directors, PMs/producers, art directors, illustrators, designers, coders – to consistently deliver polished, award-worthy work

- General Google product knowledge: notably YouTube and the Google Workspace

- The ability to gracefully handle pressure and meet tight deadlines, prioritizing tasks and opportunities with acute attention to detail

- Excellent time management, organizational, verbal, and written communications skills

- Storytelling through various mediums, including animation/video

Responsibilities:

- Bring to life, through the written word, the concept and execution of integrated, cross-channel initiatives – including large web initiatives, online advertising, and digital marketing

- Attend client meetings and project kick-offs, presenting copy & concepts for the team

- Contribute meaningfully and sometimes fully lead the ideation of marketing/content ideas

- Understand the needs, motivations, and aspirations of your audiences, so that you can speak to them in the most effective, compelling, and engaging way possible

- Actually write—that is, be able to write compelling and grammatically clean long-form website copy as well as effective headlines, taglines, and calls to action

- Guide junior copywriters on the team, including reviewing and editing their work

- Leverage and optimize relevant resources, and ensure that projects stay on brief

- Question briefs where appropriate, adding value and pushing for the most effective solutions

- Tailoring the content and style of individual writing assignments according to their purpose

- Researching your client's industry and audience

- Working with your team to review the impact your work has had

- Assisting with business pitches to win new clients or projects

- Taking initiative and finding new ways for you and the team to proactively upsell, upskill, or solve a problem
