 DESCRIPTION

We are looking for a Mid-level UX/UI designer to join our team on a contract basis starting asap. This is a full 40 hr/week, remote contract opportunity that extends through January 2022, with the potential for a full-time offer or extended contract after 3 months. The ideal candidate has experience in designing clean and modern websites with high attention to detail, understanding of accessibility, user journeys, and design systems.

They would have a blend of data-driven UX thinking and impactful graphic design skills both on and offline, and an interest in developing both of these skills further. An eagerness to learn, and an interest in progressive, feminist, and intersectional social issues is a huge plus. Working directly with our Creative Director, you will have the opportunity to work within the nonprofit space with some impactful social changemakers, on projects from branding to app development to full website builds. You will be responsible for assisting in UI/UX and potential branding work with all of our current and future client work, including but not limited to the following:

 

WHAT YOU'LL DO:

Assist our design leads in creating, managing, and updating wireframes, user journeys, and sitemaps for new and existing web properties.

Create new and updating existing UI designs, implementing client feedback, establishing and updating design systems for multiple devices, and providing general creative support across a range of web and app properties.

Provide support in finding and managing stock image banks for multiple clients, including implementing image treatments and prepping files for the web.

Writing basic accessibility descriptions of visual elements across web platforms Join team calls and participate in active creative brainstorming to solve client and content issues.

Work on fresh new brand opportunities alongside our Creative Director, for new organizations and rebrands of existing foundations.

 

REQUIREMENTS:

3-5 years of experience in UX/UI design for websites on both mobile and desktop.

Ability to create to work in an incredibly fast-paced environment. Our clients are often responding to the world around us in a rapid-response form, and we must be able to keep up with our deliverables.

Dedication to user empathy, craftsmanship, and delight.

An understanding of user experience, how users interact with websites, and general best web practices.

Ability to understand the user research and insights, and then take next steps to synthesis and design from.

An impeccable eye for pixel-perfect details, typography, and accessibility on the web.

Strong knowledge of UI design processes and methodology, particularly as applied to mobile and digital

An ability to translate feedback into actionable tasks and find creative solutions

Strong written and verbal communication skills.

The soft skills and confidence to communicate and defend creative ideas clearly and succinctly to both clients and the internal team.

Proficiency in Adobe Photoshop, Adobe XD, and Sketch. Bonus if you have experience in Axure or a similar prototyping environment.

 

PLUS UPS:

Huge bonus if you come with a graphic design portfolio including branding, social media asset design, and additional OOH experience.

Work within the non-profit, political, and/or activist space Agency, large consultancy, or product company background Experience developing and executing user testing initiatives
