Apparel Designer

Our retail client is looking for an Apparel Designer for a hybrid freelance assignment in New York from 05/26/2026 through 08/19/2026.

This role supports the design and development of seasonal apparel collections focused on collaborations, licensed product, and third-party vendor programs.

Key Responsibilities:

• Support seasonal apparel collection development
• Create sketches, flats, and technical packages in Adobe Illustrator
• Build mood boards, concept decks, and trend presentations
• Research trends, color direction, fabrics, and silhouette ideas
• Maintain tech packs, BOMs, and PLM updates
• Coordinate samples, lab dips, and approvals
• Attend fit sessions and track revisions
• Partner with Merchandising, Production, Technical Design, and Sourcing teams
• Support vendor communication and product development timelines
• Assist with presentations, line reviews, and seasonal launches

Qualifications:

• 1–3 years of apparel design or product development experience
• Experience with collaborations, licensed product, or vendor programs preferred
• Strong Illustrator sketching and technical flat skills
• Experience creating tech packs and supporting product development
• Proficiency in Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop; PLM experience preferred
• Knowledge of garment construction, fabrics, and fit
• Experience with AI tools such as ChatGPT, Gemini, or Vizcom is a plus
• Bachelor’s degree in Fashion Design or related field preferred
