Associate Designer – Girls’ Apparel (2-8)

Location: New York, NY
Employment Type: Full-Time (onsite 5 days)
Salary: 70-80k DOE

We are seeking a creative, detail-oriented Associate Designer to support the development of girls’ apparel collections from initial concept through production. The Associate Designer will partner closely with design, merchandising, product development, technical design, sourcing, sales, and production teams to deliver compelling, market-right product for each season.

Associate Designer Key Responsibilities

  • Research seasonal trends, color, fabric, silhouettes, graphics, trims, and competitive product.
  • Create mood boards, color palettes, design presentations, CADs, sketches, prints, and graphics.
  • Develop commercially viable girls’ apparel for Off-Price
  • Support the creation of customer-specific presentations, line sheets, and design concepts.
  • Create and maintain detailed tech packs, including construction details, measurements, fabrications, trims, artwork, and colorways.
  • Review lab dips, strike-offs, trim submissions, artwork, and samples; communicate clear comments and revisions..
  • Track design updates from concept through final approval and production handoff.
  • Help manage seasonal calendars, sample deadlines, market appointments, and approval milestones.

Associate Designer Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Fashion Design or a related field preferred.
  • 3+ years of apparel design experience, ideally within girls’, children’s, baby/toddler
  • Strong knowledge of garment construction, fit, fabric, trims, color, print, and graphics development.
  • Proficiency in Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop required. PLM preferred
  • Strong organization, communication, and project-management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
