A biotechnology company is seeking a highly motivated, detail-oriented Lab Technician to join its team of scientists, engineers, and business operators. Working under the guidance of experienced biologists, the Lab Technician will gain hands-on experience in protein research and development, contributing to ongoing projects and supporting protein research activities across the lab.
Responsibilities
- Run agarose gel electrophoresis for DNA analysis
- Prepare and maintain buffers, reagents, and other laboratory solutions
- Prepare and sterilize culture media
- Grow bacterial cultures for various experiments
- Perform transformations
- Operate and maintain laboratory equipment, including electrophoresis chambers, centrifuges, sterilizers, and spectrophotometers
- Follow standard operating procedures (SOPs) and ensure compliance with safety regulations
- Author and update SOPs as needed
- Document all experimental procedures, results, and observations meticulously
- Collaborate with team members to optimize purification processes and troubleshoot issues
- Maintain a clean and organized laboratory environment
- Assist with ordering and inventory management of laboratory supplies
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in biochemistry, molecular biology, biotechnology, or a related field
- 2+ years of hands-on experience in a laboratory setting
- Experience with protein purification techniques and relevant laboratory equipment
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate records
- Good communication and teamwork skills
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks effectively
- Knowledge of laboratory safety protocols and procedures
