Product Development Coordinator (Skincare)
Type: Fulltime
Hybrid NYC
Salary: $60-70K DOE

Client Overview: Our client is fast-growing skincare brand dedicated to creating innovative, high-quality beauty products.

Role Overview: The Product Development Coordinator will support the end-to-end product development process, from concept through launch. This role will partner with cross-functional teams, contract manufacturers, and laboratories to help deliver high-quality skincare products while ensuring timelines, documentation, and product development activities remain on track.

Product Development Coordinator Responsibilities:

  • Support market, competitive, and trend research to inform skincare product development.
  • Track industry news, product launches, ingredient innovations, and consumer trends.
  • Organize competitive research and identify whitespace opportunities.
  • Assist with the product development lifecycle by tracking timelines, milestones, and deliverables.
  • Prepare product and packaging briefs, product copy, artwork, and formula feedback.
  • Coordinate sample requests, formula rounds, and approvals with contract manufacturers.
  • Monitor project action items and follow up to ensure deadlines are met.
  • Serve as a day-to-day liaison with manufacturers and laboratories regarding project updates and sample shipments.
  • Track formula and packaging costs and assist with cost analysis.
  • Maintain accurate records of formulas, ingredient lists, vendor documentation, and product specifications.
  • Coordinate clinical and consumer claims testing, including scheduling and logistics.
  • Assist with documentation required for regulatory and international product registrations.
  • Build and maintain comprehensive product dossiers, including formulations, ingredients, claims, and benefits.
  • Organize and maintain physical and digital product libraries.
  • Collaborate with Marketing, Creative, Regulatory, and Operations teams to support product launches.
  • Prepare product and packaging samples for meetings and presentations.
  • Develop presentation materials, document meeting notes, and track follow-up action items.

Product Development Coordinator Qualifications:

  • 1–3 years of experience in cosmetic product development, product marketing, or a related field.
  • Internship experience within the skincare or beauty industry is a plus.
  • Passion for skincare, beauty trends, ingredients, and product innovation.
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred in Marketing, Chemistry, Biology, or a related discipline; equivalent experience will also be considered.
  • Strong organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Google Workspace, including spreadsheet management.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Eagerness to learn about formulation, regulatory requirements, and product claims.
