Product Test Engineer 2
We are seeking a detail-oriented Product Test Engineer to support the development and evaluation of performance footwear products for a leading consumer products organization. This freelance, on-site role is ideal for a hands-on testing professional who is comfortable working independently, collaborating within a laboratory environment, and adapting to evolving project needs.

Experience: Minimum of 2 years in a laboratory or product-testing environment
What You’ll Do
- Perform hands-on testing of basketball footwear products, materials, and components.
- Execute product and materials testing protocols while maintaining accurate, detailed documentation.
- Support test setup, sample preparation, data collection, and reporting activities.
- Partner closely with a small day-to-day testing team while contributing to a broader cross-functional group.
- Work independently with limited oversight, identifying priorities and progressing assignments proactively.
- Navigate changing requirements and ambiguous testing scenarios with sound judgment and flexibility.
- Communicate findings, observations, and test results clearly to team members and stakeholders.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Materials Science, Product Development, or a related field.
- At least 2 years of experience in a lab, quality, engineering, or product-testing environment.
- Hands-on experience testing products and/or materials.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to accurate documentation.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively with minimal direction and manage responsibilities independently.
- Adaptable, collaborative approach in a fast-paced and evolving environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with statistical analysis and interpretation of test data.
- Experience operating universal testing machines (UTMs), Instron equipment, or similar laboratory systems.
- AutoCAD experience.
- Experience with 3D printing or rapid prototyping.
