Retoucher

Employment Type: Freelance / Contract

We are seeking a detail-oriented Retoucher to produce polished, commercially ready product imagery for a fast-paced beauty and consumer products organization. This freelance role will focus on enhancing still-life photography, cosmetics, packaging, and e-commerce assets while preserving accurate color, texture, and product integrity.

What You’ll Do

• Retouch product, packaging, beauty, and still-life imagery for digital, e-commerce, and marketing use.
• Perform precise color correction, color matching, cleanup, and image refinement while maintaining realistic product appearance.
• Retouch swatches, powders, creams, liquids, glosses, jellies, textures, and other complex product surfaces.
• Refine labels, edges, surfaces, reflections, and minor imperfections to a high commercial standard.
• Work from Capture One selects, creative briefs, and detailed retouching notes.
• Deliver initial retouching rounds and efficiently incorporate feedback through final approval.
• Maintain organized files and follow established naming, folder, export, and delivery conventions.
• Manage multiple assignments while meeting established turnaround timelines.
• Partner closely with photographers, producers, art directors, and creative stakeholders as needed.

Must-Have Qualifications

• 3+ years of professional retouching experience, ideally within beauty, cosmetics, fashion, consumer products, or e-commerce.
• Demonstrated experience retouching beauty products, packaging, cosmetics, and/or still-life imagery.
• Strong expertise in Adobe Photoshop and professional retouching workflows.
• Experience retouching a range of product textures, including swatches, powders, creams, liquids, glosses, and jellies.
• Strong understanding of color correction, color matching, and accurate product-color reproduction.
• Ability to clean and refine packaging, labels, edges, surfaces, and imperfections without over-retouching.
• Experience creating high-end, polished imagery for e-commerce or commercial use.
• Exceptional attention to detail, consistency, quality, and finish.
• Ability to interpret detailed creative direction while applying sound independent judgment.
• Comfort working from Capture One selects and provided retouching briefs.
• Strong project-management, file-organization, and deadline-management skills.
• Reliable communication and responsiveness throughout the retouching process.
• Ability to provide initial rounds and incorporate feedback efficiently through final delivery.
• A portfolio demonstrating strong product retouching work.

Nice to Have

• Experience with compositing, image manipulation, or advanced cleanup techniques.
• Experience retouching transparent, translucent, reflective, or otherwise complex product surfaces.
• Familiarity with fast-paced beauty, consumer product, or e-commerce production workflows.
• Experience collaborating with creative teams, art directors, photographers, and producers.
• Understanding of digital and e-commerce image standards, specifications, and export requirements.
• Experience working within an established retouching tier or estimated-hours system.
