Job description

Senior Ecommerce Associate

Employment Type: Freelance
Location: onsite in NYC 5x per week

We are seeking a detail-oriented and commercially minded Senior Ecommerce Associate to support the day-to-day performance, presentation, and optimization of a fast-growing digital storefront. This freelance role is ideal for an experienced ecommerce professional who combines strong merchandising instincts with analytical rigor and can execute quickly in a collaborative, high-volume environment.

Reporting to the ecommerce leadership team, you will help ensure the site is accurate, compelling, and conversion-focused across product launches, seasonal updates, promotions, and ongoing content changes. You will work closely with marketing, creative, planning, operations, and external partners to deliver an exceptional customer experience and support ecommerce revenue goals.

Key Responsibilities

  • Execute daily ecommerce merchandising updates, including product setup, collection management, navigation, promotional content, and on-site storytelling.
  • Support product launches from initial planning through live-site execution, including asset coordination, product information validation, quality assurance, and post-launch monitoring.
  • Maintain product catalog accuracy across titles, descriptions, imagery, pricing, inventory messaging, tags, variants, and merchandising attributes.
  • Partner with ecommerce leadership to implement merchandising strategies that improve conversion, engagement, average order value, and sell-through.
  • Monitor site performance and key product metrics, identifying opportunities to improve category presentation, product discoverability, and customer journey flow.
  • Create recurring reports on site performance, product sales, merchandising effectiveness, and campaign results; translate findings into clear recommendations and next steps.
  • Coordinate with creative and marketing teams on homepage, landing page, campaign, and product-detail-page updates.
  • Perform routine site QA across desktop and mobile experiences, escalating and helping resolve issues related to content, functionality, checkout, promotions, and product availability.
  • Support testing initiatives, including merchandising experiments, content updates, promotional placements, and customer experience improvements.
  • Maintain organized ecommerce calendars, launch checklists, briefs, and documentation to keep cross-functional workstreams on schedule.

Qualifications

  • 3–5 years of ecommerce, digital merchandising, site operations, or digital marketing experience, preferably within retail, fashion, beauty, lifestyle, or consumer goods.
  • Hands-on experience with Shopify or a comparable ecommerce platform, including product catalog management and collection merchandising.
  • Strong understanding of ecommerce KPIs, including conversion rate, bounce rate, average order value, sell-through, traffic, and product performance.
  • Experience using web analytics and reporting tools such as Google Analytics, Shopify Analytics, Looker, or similar platforms.
  • Excellent attention to detail and a demonstrated ability to manage multiple site updates, launches, and deadlines simultaneously.
  • Comfortable working with product data, inventory information, pricing, promotions, and performance reporting.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with creative, marketing, planning, and technical stakeholders.
  • Knowledge of SEO, A/B testing, mobile optimization, UX best practices, and ecommerce site QA is preferred.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Digital Commerce, or a related field is preferred.

What Success Looks Like

  • A polished, accurate, and customer-focused online shopping experience.
  • On-time product launches and promotional updates with thorough quality assurance.
  • Clear reporting that turns ecommerce performance data into actionable recommendations.
  • Improved product discoverability, site engagement, and conversion opportunities.
  • Reliable cross-functional coordination across fast-moving digital priorities.
