Senior Sales Executive – Sportswear
An established apparel business is seeking an experienced Senior Sales Executive to lead the launch and growth of a new sportswear division. This is a high-impact role focused on opening new doors with major retailers, building strategic partnerships, and driving incremental growth through cross-selling an established outerwear business.
The ideal candidate will have at least 5 years of sales experience, established relationships with major retailers, and a strong network within women’s apparel. This person must be comfortable working independently, while also partnering cross-functionally with design, sourcing, and production teams. The role reports directly to the VP of Sales & Merchandising.
Key Responsibilities
- Build partnerships with high-volume retail accounts
- Open new accounts for the sportswear division while cross-selling outerwear
- Develop and execute a strategic sales approach for a new and growing category
- Solicit, schedule, and track appointments with prospective accounts
- Present the product line to buyers and retail leadership teams
- Deliver product knowledge, market trends, and competitive insights
- Negotiate and close sales opportunities
- Forecast business and partner with leadership to achieve sales plans
- Analyze retail selling reports and identify whitespace opportunities
- Manage the business with urgency, consistency, and a hands-on sales mentality
- Travel as needed
- Navigate inventory systems, including A2000
- Utilize Microsoft Word and Excel effectively
Ideal Background
- 5+ years of apparel sales experience
- Strong relationships with major retail buyers and management teams
- Women’s apparel background with a modern mainstream point of view
- Proven ability to build business in new or underdeveloped categories
- Strong communication skills and a proactive, resourceful approach
- Ability to work independently and cross-functionally
