About the Role
We are seeking a highly creative, trend-driven Gen Z Sportswear Designer to lead the design and development of sportswear categories for a contemporary, youth-focused brand. This person will bring a strong point of view on Gen Z consumer preferences, emerging fashion trends, and the intersection of lifestyle and performance design. The ideal candidate has a strong sportswear aesthetic, a deep understanding of category development, and the ability to translate trend insights into commercially successful products.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and develop innovative sportswear product categories aligned with the brand’s vision and Gen Z market trends.
- Research fashion, cultural, and consumer trends to identify new opportunities in sportswear.
- Create seasonal concepts, color stories, fabric direction, silhouettes, and key item ideas.
- Drive category design from concept through final execution, ensuring products are both trend-right and commercially viable.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with merchandising, product development, technical design, and production teams.
- Develop sketches, technical flats, CADs, and presentation boards for seasonal reviews.
- Partner with sourcing and development teams on fabric, trim, and construction direction.
- Ensure designs align with the target customer, price point, and brand positioning.
- Present concepts and seasonal direction to internal stakeholders with confidence and clarity.
Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience in apparel design, with a strong focus on sportswear categories.
- Strong understanding of Gen Z fashion trends, youth culture, and market dynamics.
- Experience designing for contemporary or mass-market apparel brands preferred.
