Business Analyst, Commercial Planning – Contract
Location: Hybrid 3 days/ week in NYC Office.
Assignment Duration: October 27, 2025 – May 31, 2026
Pay Rate: $55-59/hr (DOE)
Overview
This 6-month maternity leave coverage role reports directly to the Director of Commercial Planning and plays a critical role in sales planning, forecasting, and reporting for the division. The successful candidate will serve as a primary liaison with the sales and commerce teams, driving accuracy and insights in forecasting processes to support strategic business decision-making.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage weekly Order Write meetings, partnering closely with the Commerce team to compile and consolidate monthly and quarterly Gross-to-Net sales projections with precision.
- Prepare and deliver monthly leadership reports outlining Net Sales figures, explaining variances, and identifying potential risks and opportunities.
- Coordinate month-end Retail and Net Sales actualization by account, collaborating with Business Analytics and Commercial Finance to ensure data accuracy and integrity.
- Monitor business performance continuously; review and adjust Year-to-Go sales forecasts alongside Commerce and present updated retail sales outlooks during monthly demand reviews and consensus meetings.
- Support the Director of Commercial Planning in delivering Trend and Budget forecasts.
- Build, maintain, and enhance complex planning models and forecasting modules to drive Limited Edition, Trend, and Budget planning accuracy.
Qualifications
- Expert-level proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including advanced data manipulation and formula skills.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to examine data at granular levels and extract actionable insights.
- Excellent communication and presentation abilities, capable of effectively collaborating cross-functionally and managing multiple stakeholders.
- Demonstrated ability to work under tight deadlines, prioritize effectively, and manage shifting business needs.
- High attention to detail and a sense of urgency in delivering quality outputs.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Previous experience in the beauty or consumer goods industry, preferably with knowledge of retail math concepts such as customer margin, stock in trade, and weeks of supply.
- Background in sales planning and forecasting within a retail-facing organization.
- Familiarity with Power BI or similar data visualization tools is a plus.
