24 Seven is partnering with a top global sportswear client to help them find a Buyer for this onsite position in Portland, OR. This is an 7 month contract with potential to extend working 4 days a week onsite. While on contract, you’d be eligible for benefits including medical, dental, vision, and more.
Ideal Candidate: will have a will have a Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent experience), 3+ years in buying, merchandising, or product creation, and a strong understanding of retail and digital profit-based metrics. They bring proven experience in apparel, footwear, or consumer products, with a sharp eye for market trends and the ability to position products as style leaders in the marketplace.

The ideal candidate will combine business acumen and analytical skills with an ability to curate consumer-right assortments that balance today’s in-season needs with future planning. They will serve as both a mentor and collaborator- elevating the team, guiding individual contributors, and partnering effectively across cross-functional teams (Merchandising, Planning & Allocation, Visual Merchandising, Store Operations, and Marketing). Success in this role requires a deep understanding of consumer, trend, and marketplace dynamics, as well as the ability to influence, communicate, and lead with inclusivity and impact.
What you will work on:
Own bringing the seasonal assortment to life in Stores, ensuring alignment with consumer demand and brand strategy
Develop and refine consumer-centric assortment plans across multiple seasons, blending data-driven insights with market intuition
Coordinate across genders, brands, and collections to ensure cohesive and impactful product stories
Collaborate cross-functionally with merchandising, planning, and store teams to deliver seamless execution of assortment strategies
Participate in seasonal buy reviews to influence assortment decisions and drive alignment with business goals
Contribute to in-season trading by analyzing performance and recommending actions to optimize growth and opportunity capture
Leverage knowledge of the brand’s Direct market position and the competitive landscape to inform assortment planning and strategic decisions
Who you will work with:
We work closely with fellow merchants, buyers and cross-functional teams within Direct; in particular Digital and Stores Buying, Consumer Merchandising, Planning, Allocation, Visual Merchandising and Brand Marketing. You’ll also work with finance, operations and the insights/analytics teams; relying on business reporting which includes quantitative and qualitative metrics on sales, inventory and consumer behaviors.
