Location: Alexandria, VA – hybrid

Compensation range: $110-135k

Our nonprofit client is looking for a director of marketing and communications to join their team. The director will work closely with senior leadership to plan and develop the organization’s comprehensive communications and marketing strategy.

Responsibilities

  • Manage public/media relations, social media, internal communications, video/podcast production, agency relations, and editorial content
  • Oversee strategy and messaging for all corporate communications, including print, digital, media, partner, and social platforms
  • Handle inbound media inquiries, providing timely content and assessing business value before engagement
  • Oversee ISO compliance, reviewing SOPs for accuracy and regulatory adherence
  • Manage issues and media responses in coordination with internal departments
  • Collaborate with VP on identifying and executing internal/external communication strategies
  • Support and manage planning of national conferences and events
  • Partner with marketing to develop integrated campaigns that amplify strategic messages
  • Work with marketing teams to implement organization-wide and product-specific campaigns
  • Maintain brand standards and oversee design/packaging in line with best practices and regulations
  • Assist VP in executing integrated marketing/communications plans aligned with brand messaging
  • Advise senior leadership on PR, marketing, and communication strategies
  • Supervise staff, consultants, and PR agencies to ensure departmental effectiveness
  • Support and advise agency PR/marketing teams on local campaigns and initiatives
  • Build strong agency relationships and support national communication efforts as needed
  • Lead communications for high-profile national initiatives, aligning cross-functional messaging
  • Manage special projects as assigned by the VP to support organizational goals

Requirements

  • Degree in marketing, communications, or related discipline
  • Minimum ten years of related marketing and communications experience
  • Experience managing a team
