Our museum client seeks an Education Initiatives Project Manager to provide project management support to the education initiatives and marcom teams. The contractor will help plan, coordinate, and deliver cross-functional projects that increase awareness, understanding, and engagement among secondary educators with the organization’s educational programs, resources, and learning opportunities. This role acts as a central point of contact between teams, promoting effective collaboration, clear communication, and timely, mission-aligned deliverables.
Responsibilities
- Manage the full lifecycle of assigned projects—from initiation and planning through execution, monitoring, and closeout.
- Lead project kickoff meetings with staff and stakeholders to clarify goals, outcomes, scope, priorities, and success metrics.
- Develop and maintain detailed project plans and schedules, including milestones, dependencies, deliverables, and resource requirements.
- Coordinate timelines and facilitate content development for digital, print, video, social media, and event-related communication materials directed at secondary educators.
- Oversee review and approval cycles for draft deliverables, ensuring accuracy, consistency, and timely stakeholder input.
- Monitor project status, proactively addressing issues and risks to keep work on schedule and within scope.
- Track project budgets and expenditures and flag potential overruns or constraints in advance.
- Serve as a liaison between Education Initiatives and MarCom, aligning expectations, objectives, and constraints across teams.
- Provide regular, concise project updates to cross-functional partners and leadership, highlighting progress, risks, and needs.
- Facilitate project debriefs and retrospectives to capture lessons learned and recommend process improvements.
- Identify and assess risks related to scope, timelines, resources, or quality and collaborate with teams on mitigation strategies.
- Align EI and MarCom efforts by synchronizing project goals and timelines and streamlining shared processes.
- Participate in strategic planning discussions, advising on realistic schedules, capacity, communication best practices, and audience engagement strategies.
- Develop and maintain dashboards, status reports, and tracking tools that provide up-to-date visibility into the MarCom project pipeline as it relates to EI priorities.
- Analyze project data and trends to inform planning, resource allocation, and longer-term divisional strategy.
Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience in project management or a closely related field, ideally supporting marketing, communications, or digital engagement operations.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with proven success collaborating with cross-functional teams and leadership.
- Exceptional attention to detail and strong organizational skills, with experience managing multiple concurrent projects and shifting priorities.
- Proactive, solutions-oriented approach to anticipating needs, identifying challenges, and delivering high-quality products on time.
- Demonstrated ability to plan, implement, and monitor assignments; meet deadlines; and adapt to changing circumstances.
- Familiarity with best practices for producing print, digital, and multimedia communications.
- Experience supporting digital products and events (e.g., video, email campaigns, web content, social media assets).
- Ability to translate technical or digital requirements into clear guidance for non-technical stakeholders.
