Role Overview
The Finance Director – US will serve as the senior finance lead for our US operations, combining commercial acumen with strong financial management. This is an all-round role, covering commercial finance, operational finance, accounting oversight, treasury, audit, and governance. The successful candidate will act as a key business partner to US leadership while working closely with our Global Finance team in the UK.
This is a hands-on role, ideally suited to a self-starter who thrives in a fast-paced environment, is comfortable with broad responsibilities, and is motivated by the opportunity to shape the finance function of an ambitious, established beauty brand.
Key Responsibilities:
Financial Planning & Analysis
- Develop and maintain comprehensive budgets, forecasts, and long-term financial models aligned with company objectives.
- Analyze business performance versus forecasts, identifying trends, risks, and opportunities to inform strategic decisions.
- Provide actionable insights to leadership on profitability, growth strategies, and resource allocation.
Financial Reporting
- Prepare timely and accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements for senior leadership and stakeholders.
- Highlight key performance indicators, financial trends, and variances, offering actionable recommendations.
- Ensure reporting processes are standardized, efficient, and scalable to support business growth and external audits.
Accounting Oversight
- Supervise the Accounting & Finance Manager, providing leadership and guidance across statutory reporting, tax, and transactional processes.
- Ensure timely and accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual reporting to US and Global stakeholders.
Cost Management
- Identify cost-saving opportunities across operations, marketing, and retail initiatives without compromising quality or growth.
- Monitor department budgets, ensuring alignment with company financial objectives.
- Develop strategies to optimize gross margins and support sustainable profitability.
Cash Flow Management
- Oversee daily, weekly, and monthly cash flow planning to ensure liquidity for operations and strategic initiatives.
- Manage treasury, working capital, accounts receivable, and payable in line with business needs.
- Forecast cash needs for upcoming product launches, retail campaigns, and investment opportunities.
Internal Controls & Compliance
- Implement and maintain robust internal controls to safeguard company assets.
- Maintain strong governance, audit, and reporting frameworks to ensure financial integrity.
Commercial Finance Leadership
- Partner with US leadership to drive profitable growth, providing insight and challenge across sales, marketing, pricing, and channel strategy.
- Develop and monitor financial reporting, forecasts, and provide analysis to support decision-making.
- Support commercial leadership with key retail partners where required.
Stakeholder Management
- Act as the finance liaison between US operations and the UK-based Global Finance team, ensuring clear communication, alignment, and consistency.
- Build strong relationships with key external partners, including auditors, banks, and advisors.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Partner with operations, supply chain, and commercial teams to provide financial insights and support decision-making.
- Translate complex financial data into actionable recommendations for non-financial stakeholders.
- Support initiatives such as product launches, retail expansions, and promotional campaigns with financial analysis.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field; MBA or CPA preferred.
- Minimum of 8-10 years of progressive experience in finance, with at least 5 years in a leadership role, within the beauty, cosmetics, or consumer goods industry.
- Strong background in Beauty and or FMCG, ideally with direct exposure to “Big Box” U.S. retailers (Walmart, Target, Ulta highly advantageous)
- Proven experience in senior finance roles with a commercial focus (e.g., Finance Director, Head of Finance, Commercial Finance Lead)
- Expertise in cash flow management and cost control strategies.
- Familiarity with industry-specific financial systems and software.
- Self-starter who has the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and manage multiple priorities effectively.

- Experience managing and developing direct reports
