Freelance- Assisant Technical Designer-Onsite – Los Angeles

We’re partnering with a contemporary women’s fashion brand in Downtown Los Angeles to find a Freelance Assistant Technical Designer to support fit, quality, and construction across all women’s categories. This is a hands-on, onsite role ideal for someone looking to grow within technical design in a fast-paced environment.

Role Overview:
Reporting to the Technical Design Manager, the Assistant Technical Designer will support the product lifecycle from initial concept through fit approval. This role works closely with Design, Production, and Development teams, as well as vendors, to ensure garments meet brand standards for fit, function, and quality.

Key Responsibilities:

• Measure samples accurately from Proto through PP stages

• Assist with reviewing garment construction and quality

• Support identification and communication of fit and balance issues

• Help execute clear and timely fit comments to meet production timelines

• Assist with fit sessions using live models and dress forms

• Support cross-functional communication and vendor follow-up

• Maintain organized documentation and support process improvements

Qualifications:

• 1–3+ years of experience in Technical Design or related role

• Basic understanding of garment construction and patternmaking

• Strong attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines

• Proficiency in Adobe Illustrator and/or Photoshop

• Working knowledge of Google Suite (Drive, Docs, Sheets)

• Strong organizational and communication skills

• Degree in Apparel Manufacturing, Product Development, Apparel Design, or equivalent experience preferred
