We’re partnering with a contemporary women’s fashion brand in Downtown Los Angeles to find a Freelance Associate Technical Designer to support fit, quality, and construction across all women’s categories. This role is ideal for an experienced technical designer who thrives in a fast-paced, collaborative environment and enjoys owning the fit process from development through production.

Role Overview:
Reporting to the Technical Design Manager, the Associate Technical Designer will work closely with Design, Production, and Development teams to guide garments from initial concept through fit approval. This role collaborates cross-functionally and with vendors to ensure all products meet brand standards for fit, function, and quality.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Measure samples accurately from Proto through PP stages in preparation for fittings

  • Review garment construction and quality for category and fabrication standards

  • Identify and clearly communicate fit and balance issues using pattern diagrams and visual references

  • Execute timely, clear, and actionable fit comments to maintain production timelines

  • Lead fit sessions using live models and dress forms

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams and vendors to drive fit consistency

  • Support process improvements that enhance accuracy and product quality

Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of experience in Technical Design

  • Strong understanding of garment construction and patternmaking across apparel categories

  • Excellent attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment

  • Proficiency in Adobe Illustrator and/or Photoshop

  • Strong working knowledge of Google Suite (Drive, Docs, Sheets)

  • In-depth knowledge of fabrics, materials, construction, and fit

  • Flexible, collaborative, and solution-oriented mindset

  • English fluency required; additional languages a plus

  • Degree in Apparel Manufacturing, Product Development, Apparel Design, or equivalent experience
