The Head of Content will lead the creation and management of content strategy for the publishing operations. Responsibilities
- Develop and manage the content strategy across various formats (books, digital, audio, video, articles) and platforms.
- Define and maintain brand voice, tone, style, and editorial standards.
- Build, lead, and mentor content teams including editors, writers, and freelancers; hire as needed.
- Oversee editorial calendar and production workflow from ideation through publication.
- Ensure content supports business goals such as sales, subscriptions, audience growth, and engagement.
- Collaborate with marketing, sales, and operations to support campaigns and product launches.
- Use analytics to track performance and refine content strategy.
- Grow newsletter subscriptions and memberships, using organic and paid channels to drive revenue.
- Expand digital advertising opportunities in cooperation with sales.
- Manage budgets for content production, freelancers, and tools.
- Stay updated on publishing trends and emerging content formats and technologies.
- Ensure editorial quality, legal compliance, and brand integrity.
- Report regularly on content metrics and strategic direction.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, English, Communications, Marketing or related field; Master’s preferred.
- 7-10 years of experience in content, editorial, or publishing roles, with leadership experience preferred.
- Strong editorial judgment, writing/editing skills, and storytelling ability.
- Experience in multi-channel content strategy and team management.
- Proficiency with analytics and data-driven content decisions.
- Excellent leadership, project management, and communication skills.
- Familiarity with publishing tools such as CMS platforms and editorial workflow systems.
