Overview
The Jr. Packaging Designer supports the packaging team to ensure accurate, on-time production of a wide range of packaging materials (hangtags, labels, structural packaging, etc.), with a strong focus on production and some creative design as you grow in the role.
Location: NYC (in office 5 days)
Salary: $65000-75000 (+ benefits)
Key Responsibilities
- Support the print production process from concept through final production and suggest process improvements.
- Assist with designing cost-effective, consumer-friendly hangtags and structural packaging.
- Update artwork, copy, and files based on feedback from stakeholders.
- Maintain and update art and production files; track development progress and key deadlines.
- Work directly with vendors on new developments, pricing, and approvals.
- Review and comment on digital and physical samples (color, substrate, finishes, overall quality).
- Flag and help resolve issues with packaging schedules and vendor approvals.
- Help ensure packaging solutions are on-brand and support overall category efficiencies.
- Communicate sample and production comments between Packaging and cross-functional teams.
Core Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Packaging Design, Graphic Design, Illustration, Fine Arts, or related field.
- Experience or internship in the fashion industry; children’s wear knowledge is a plus.
- Strong Adobe Creative Suite skills, especially Adobe Illustrator.
- Excellent organization, communication, and presentation skills with strong attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and efficiently in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
- Illustration skills are a plus.
- Consistent in-office presence to closely collaborate with the team and work hands-on with product and packaging.
