Job description

Retail Field Marketing Manager (Full-Time)

Location: Chicago, IL (HQ)
Travel: Required
Compensation: $90,000 – $150,000 (commensurate with experience)

Our client, a fast-growing brand in the retail fashion space, is seeking a Retail Field Marketing Manager to lead store-level marketing and retail activation across a rapidly expanding brick-and-mortar footprint. This is a newly created role designed to bring dedicated field marketing ownership to stores and drive measurable traffic, engagement, and revenue at the local level.

Historically, retail locations have operated with limited, ad hoc support from a centralized digital team. There has not been a single owner responsible for in-store traffic performance, localized marketing strategy, retail activation, or event execution. Leadership is now investing in a field marketing expert to bridge corporate strategy with in-store execution and elevate the retail experience across markets.

Role Overview

The Retail Field Marketing Manager will develop and execute localized marketing strategies, in-store activations, and community-based initiatives that position each store as a true brand destination. This is a hands-on field marketing and retail activation role — not a traditional digital or paid media position — with a strong emphasis on performance measurement, optimization, and scalability.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute store-level marketing initiatives across all retail locations.

  • Plan and manage in-store events including grand openings, product launches, VIP experiences, community activations, and pop-ups to drive awareness, traffic, and revenue.

  • Own end-to-end event logistics and execution in partnership with internal stakeholders and store teams (creative asset production managed separately).

  • Drive adoption and effective use of the brand’s clienteling app to increase customer engagement, retention, and repeat visits.

  • Build and cultivate local partnerships (influencers, gyms, salons, universities, local businesses, community organizations) tailored to each market.

  • Partner closely with Store Managers and Regional Leaders to ensure initiatives are consistently executed, on-brand, and aligned with business objectives.

  • Monitor and analyze store-level KPIs including foot traffic, sales, conversion rates, event performance, and regional trends.

  • Identify underperforming locations and implement targeted, localized activation strategies to improve results.

  • Translate national brand campaigns into compelling in-store experiences and field marketing programs.

  • Create scalable playbooks, best practices, and execution guidelines for retail marketing initiatives.

  • Travel regularly to support store launches, key events, and on-the-ground execution.

  • Serve as the voice of retail back to HQ, sharing insights on customer behavior, competitive landscape, and local market opportunities.

Qualifications

  • 4–7+ years of experience in retail marketing, field marketing, or experiential marketing, ideally within fashion or lifestyle retail.

  • Demonstrated success driving store traffic and improving conversion through localized marketing initiatives and in-person activations.

  • Strong understanding of clienteling, CRM platforms, and in-store customer engagement strategies.

  • Hands-on experience planning and executing retail events.

  • Data-driven mindset with the ability to translate store-level performance metrics into actionable insights.

  • Highly organized, proactive, and comfortable managing multiple markets and priorities simultaneously.

  • Strong cross-functional communication and relationship-building skills.

  • Willingness and ability to travel frequently.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with high-growth, multi-location retail brands.

  • Familiarity with POS systems, traffic-counting tools, or retail analytics platforms.

  • Background in community marketing and local brand partnerships.

What This Opportunity Offers

  • High-visibility role with direct impact on retail performance and growth.

  • Opportunity to shape the in-store experience for a bold, fashion-forward brand.

  • Entrepreneurial, fast-paced environment with room to test, iterate, and innovate.

  • Creative autonomy to build localized marketing programs that drive meaningful results.

If you are a field-focused marketer who thrives on being close to the customer, excels at in-store execution, and knows how to translate data into high-impact activations, we’d love to connect.
