Technical designer (Mens and Kids)

*denim experience required

Role Description
This is a full-time, on-site position based in the New York City Metropolitan Area. The Technical Designer will be responsible for garment fit, construction, and technical execution, working closely with the Design and Production teams to ensure all styles meet quality standards and align with established specifications.

Responsibilities

  • Assist Technical Design team in maintaining technical design standards and consistency across Mens and Kids denim and wovens
  • Working knowledge of garment construction, fit, and pattern correction, ideally as relates to denim.
  • Track fit samples and measure garments, review details, and construction in preparation for fittings.
  • Attend all fittings and assist the Technical Design team in managing the fit approval process.
  • Record fit comments, take fit photos, and organize samples following fittings.
  • Must be organized and able to independently prioritize workload to meet calendar deliverables and bulk approval dates.
  • Help in maintaining the block library; receive and organize TOP samples
  • Assist with general daily task supporting the team

Qualifications:

  • 2 -6+ years of experience in the apparel industry, encompassing Pattern Making, Technical Design, Garment Construction, and Fitting skills.
  • Mens and/or Kids Experience – denim a MUST
  • Able to work independently and issue garments initial specs, improve garment construction and finish.
  • Ability to problem solve and fix patterns according to samples fitting issues.
  • Works closely with design and production teams to ensure all garments meet the standards outlined in the style specifications.
  • Strong organizational and measurement skills.
  • Computer proficiency in MS Excel, MS Word, MS Outlook, Adobe Illustrator and PLM.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills are essential.
