We’re excited to share an opportunity for a Traffic & Logistics Manager to join a dynamic and fast-paced distribution team. Reporting directly to the VP of Distribution, this role will play a key part in shaping and executing logistics strategies, overseeing day-to-day operations, and driving continuous improvement across shipping and carrier management functions. The ideal candidate is a strong communicator, highly organized, and adept at juggling multiple priorities. A natural problem-solver, you should feel comfortable working independently while also collaborating closely with cross-functional teams all within a fast-moving, deadline-driven setting.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement operational policies to ensure timely product delivery to customers.
- Monitor delivery deadlines and special customer requirements; track daily progress of outgoing orders.
- Coordinate with large retail customers at the management level to meet specific routing instructions and ship dates.
- Select appropriate routing methods (LTL, FTL, FedEx, UPS) with attention to cost-effectiveness and on-time shipment.
- Manage direct shipment arrangements with both international and domestic carriers.
- Evaluate carrier performance; identify and propose efficiency improvements.
- Negotiate freight rates with carriers; resolve issues to prevent late shipments and chargebacks.
- Analyze data to identify cost-saving opportunities, present recommendations to management for alignment.
- Develop systems for tracking shipments throughout the delivery process.
- Supervise container loading processes and ensure proper documentation (e.g., bill of lading) for accuracy.
- Plan manpower needs, recruit qualified personnel, and conduct employee reviews.
- Utilize analysis and reporting to address supply chain opportunities with actionable solutions.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of transportation regulations and safety standards to ensure compliance.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by management.
Minimum Qualifications:
Education & Experience:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Operations Management or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Minimum of5 years’ progressive experience in distribution and logistics.
- 2-3 years of experience managing transportation operations and personnel.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- Bilingual in Spanish a huge plus!
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills; strong organizational abilities; attention to detail; adept at multi-tasking and problem-solving.
- Proven track record in successful freight negotiation.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel; strong proficiency with Outlook.
- Demonstrated leadership skills with experience in managing teams.
- Experience with EDI interfaces and shipping requirements for major national retail chains.
- Able to independently organize workload in a fast-paced environment while meeting deadlines.
- Self-motivated, organized, proactive communicator with a drive for results.
