Job description

About the Role

A leading technology organization is seeking an experienced Usability Specialist to help build intuitive, efficient interfaces that empower users to manage and optimize their digital experiences. In this role, you’ll play a critical part in shaping user journeys through hands on research, lab based testing, and close collaboration with a highly cross functional product and design team.

What You’ll Do

  • Document best practices and contribute to a comprehensive usability research toolkit.
  • Promote user centered design principles across product, engineering, and design teams.
  • Conduct a wide range of UX studies—usability tests, field studies, focus groups, surveys, heuristic reviews, contextual inquiry, task analysis, remote testing, card sorting, and more.
  • Develop study plans, testing tasks, research materials, and success criteria for each initiative.
  • Present usability findings and clearly communicate research based recommendations.
  • Observe user sessions, synthesize insights, and ensure research-driven decisions are accurately implemented.
  • Partner with designers to analyze and refine wireframes and mockups to enhance overall user experience.

What They’re Looking For

  • Advanced degree in Cognitive/Experimental Psychology, HCI, Technical Communication, or equivalent experience.
  • 7+ years leading user research and formal usability studies.
  • Strong experience with contextual inquiry, study planning, participant screening, and reporting.
  • Ability to advocate for user centered design within technical and cross functional teams.
  • Detail oriented, collaborative, and comfortable managing self directed work.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
