Job description

User Experience (UX) Designer (14573-1)

We are seeking a highly technical, experienced User Experience (UX) Designer to support the evolution of an enterprise-scale insights marketplace and related data and analytics products within a leading global consumer products and retail organization. In this freelance role, you will own end-to-end UX for complex, data-rich experiences, partnering closely with product, engineering, and business stakeholders to create intuitive, scalable, and consistent interfaces that support decision-making across the enterprise.

Employment Type: Freelance (Project Support – Needed ASAP)
Organization: Data & Analytics Engineering (Director-level org)
Location: Fully Remote (Must work core PST hours)
Duration: 01/12/26 – 06/30/26
Education: Bachelor’s degree required

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with Product Managers and Engineering Leads to translate business and technical requirements into clear UX flows, interaction patterns, and UI designs.
  • Lead UX activities for a sizeable, multi-squad initiative, including discovery sessions, journey mapping, information architecture, wireframing, and prototyping.
  • Design and iterate on low- to high-fidelity wireframes and interactive prototypes in Figma, ensuring alignment with established design standards and brand guidelines.
  • Create and maintain scalable design systems, component libraries, and interaction guidelines tailored to data and analytics experiences.
  • Partner with engineering to validate feasibility, clarify UX specifications, and ensure high-quality implementation of designs.
  • Develop role-based, personalized UX flows for different user personas (e.g., analysts, business users, executives) with a focus on usability and clarity in data-heavy contexts.
  • Design responsive, mobile-first experiences for leadership and executive stakeholders, emphasizing quick insight consumption and decision support.
  • Conduct or support user validation activities (usability reviews, feedback sessions, internal user testing) and incorporate insights into iterative design improvements.
  • Ensure UX consistency and coherence across multiple features, squads, and touchpoints within the insights marketplace ecosystem.
  • Participate in Agile ceremonies (backlog refinement, sprint planning, stand-ups, reviews, retrospectives) as an embedded UX partner to engineering teams.
  • Contribute to defining and tracking UX success metrics such as engagement, adoption, satisfaction, and task completion for shipped experiences.

Required Qualifications & Skills

  • 8+ years of professional experience as a UX or UI/UX Designer working on complex, enterprise-scale digital products or platforms.
  • Expert-level Figma skills, including components, auto-layout, variants, and design system workflows.
  • Demonstrated experience designing UI for sizeable, multi-feature projects, from early concept exploration through development handoff.
  • Strong background in UX fundamentals: user flows, interaction design, information architecture, wireframes, and clickable prototypes.
  • Experience operating in matrixed organizations and coordinating design across multiple teams and stakeholder groups.
  • Comfort working in Agile environments and partnering closely with engineering from discovery through delivery.
  • Deep understanding of visual hierarchy, layout, and brand consistency, with the ability to apply global guidelines to complex product ecosystems.
  • Excellent communication skills (written, verbal, and visual) with the ability to clearly articulate design rationale to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Proven ability to design mobile-first interfaces, especially for leadership and executive personas who consume data on the go.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Design, HCI, Computer Science, or a related field.

Nice-to-Have Skills

  • Experience designing for data products, BI dashboards, analytics tools, or KPI?driven interfaces.
  • Familiarity with personalization and recommendation patterns in complex digital products.
  • Knowledge of accessibility standards (e.g., WCAG) and inclusive design best practices, particularly for data visualization.
  • Strong storytelling skills to communicate the value and impact of UX work to senior and executive stakeholders.
  • Experience contributing to or evolving enterprise-level design systems.

Additional Details

  • This is a highly technical, product-focused UX role; successful candidates will be comfortable working closely with data, analytics, and engineering teams.
  • Previous experience in consumer products, retail, or e-commerce industries is beneficial but not required.
