VP, Product Development – Global Skincare Brand

Global skincare brand seeking a strong VP of Product Development. Role can be based in NY or CA only.

Position Summary

As a key executive leader on the product development team, the Vice President of Product Development is responsible for overseeing the product pipeline for the brand’s global markets. This role requires both creative and analytical thinking, including the ability to identify and drive innovation, a keen sense of future trends, strong consumer insight capabilities, and a deep understanding of the overall beauty business.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee and drive development across all categories from ideation through the full product life cycle, including but not limited to product briefs, packaging development, safety testing, product claims, and product education.
  • Ideate and create ground-up, first-to-market innovations and ensure on-time product launches within target costs, working closely with

Production and Procurement.

  • Maximize relationships with global suppliers and ensure clear briefs and strong project communication.
  • Oversee Regulatory team member to ensure on-time registration and global product compliance.
  • Build productive relationships with key cross-functional partners, including Operations, Marketing, Education, and Sales.
  • Research and share market and ingredient trends to ensure projects meet marketplace needs; identify new trends in product formats, ingredients, delivery systems, and technologies that can translate into new concepts.
  • Present new concepts and formulations with rationale and data analysis to support recommendations.
  • Develop and implement a strategic innovation roadmap that aligns with the company’s long-term goals and drives market leadership and differentiation.
  • Identify white space opportunities and growth drivers through ongoing strategic and commercial analysis.
  • Manage budgets, resources, and timelines to deliver projects that meet innovation goals and commercial targets.
  • Define and implement launch plans in coordination with brand teams and evaluate post-launch performance.
  • Lead initiatives to incorporate sustainable practices and materials into the innovation process.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of product development experience in skincare; BA degree required.
  • Expertise in skincare and/or color and formula texture evaluation across all categories.
  • Extensive experience and strong existing relationships with global contract manufacturers and raw material suppliers.
  • 5+ years of managerial experience leading, developing, and motivating teams.
  • Experience working with founder-led organizations is a huge plus.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects through strong prioritization and planning skills.
  • Proven track record of taking ownership and driving business results while pushing the boundaries of creative product development and taking calculated risks.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, often-changing, collaborative environment.
  • Ability to think both strategically and tactically with exceptional attention to detail.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint, with the ability to deliver strong, polished, and effective presentations.
  • Willingness to travel (domestic and international).
