Technical Designer Overview:

As the Technical Designer, you will oversee all aspects of technical design to ensure accuracy of product measurements, quality, construction, and fit.

Technical Designer Responsibilities:

• Oversee all aspects of technical design for every collection and develop a fit comment document for all garment components, including fit, fabric, construction, stitch, and trim

• Measure garments accurately to identify any fit issues and execute fit comments efficiently to remain on schedule with production
• Participate in fit sessions, provide recommendations, note call-outs, and log critiques to accurately and efficiently address all issues
• Provide grading guidelines to vendors after fit approval to ensure quality consistency and collaborate with internal and external partners
• Approve samples for production after a thorough evaluation of fit, measurement, pattern shaping, hanger appeal, and functionality

Technical Designer Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree preferred

• Proven technical design experience
• Experience working on Walmart accounts
• 5+ years experience

Job Summary:
The Technical Designer is responsible for developing accurate specifications from first sample through production to guide manufacturing partners. This role partners closely with the Senior Technical Designer to achieve optimal fit, construction, and quality. Key Responsibilities:
• Partner with the Senior Technical Designer to interpret design direction into fit comments and revised specifications
• Create and update tech packs, technical sketches, BOMs, and construction callouts
• Measure SMS, PPS, and TOP samples; identify and communicate fit issues during fittings
• Attend and actively participate in fittings, supporting problem-solving and execution of revisions
• Establish base size specifications and grading rules
• Collaborate with Design, Product Development, and Production teams to resolve technical issues
• Maintain fit logs and track samples throughout the development process
• Ensure consistency in fit, construction, and overall garment quality
• Prioritize workload to meet development calendars and key milestones
• Communicate daily with overseas factories and vendors
• Provide regular updates on assigned styles and development status

Qualifications:
• Minimum 5 years of technical design experience, primarily in knit garments
• Strong knowledge of garment construction, fit, grading, and patternmaking
• Experience managing styles from proto through TOP stages
• Proficiency in Adobe Illustrator and Microsoft Office (Excel, Word)
• Experience with patternmaking systems (Tukatech, Gerber, Optitex or similar) is a plus
• Highly organized with strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities
• Strong communication, problem-solving, and cross-functional collaboration skills
• Experience working with plus sizes is a plus
