3D Technical Designer
We are looking for a 3D Technical Designer to support the development of apparel from concept through production. This person will play a key role in fit, construction, technical package creation, and cross-functional collaboration, while helping ensure product accuracy, consistency, and speed to market.
The ideal candidate has a strong technical design background in apparel and brings hands-on experience with 3D design tools such as CLO or Browzwear. This role requires someone who is highly organized, detail oriented, and comfortable working closely with design, development, production, and vendors throughout the product lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities
- Create and maintain detailed tech packs with garment specs, construction details, fit intent, and quality standards.
- Use 3D design platforms such as CLO or Browzwear to support development, visualization, and fit accuracy.
- Lead fit sessions, evaluate samples, and provide clear fit comments to move product through development efficiently.
- Partner with Design, Merchandising, Product Development, and Production to align on product details, timelines, and execution.
- Manage fit approval from initial development through pre-production, including graded spec review.
- Maintain blocks, grading standards, construction references, and sample tracking documentation.
- Help identify development issues early and recommend solutions that support fit, quality, and on-time delivery.
- Communicate with domestic and overseas vendors to ensure technical expectations are understood and executed correctly.
- Contribute to process improvements that support consistency and efficiency across categories.
- Review market trends and competitive product to help inform technical and construction improvements.
Qualifications
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Fashion Design, Technical Design, Apparel Development, or a related field.
- Approximately 3 to 7 years of experience in apparel technical design, with flexibility for more experienced candidates.
- Strong knowledge of patternmaking, grading, garment construction, measuring, and fit evaluation.
- Experience creating technical packages and managing product from concept to production.
- Proficiency in Adobe Illustrator, Microsoft Office, and Google Workspace.
- Experience with PLM systems; Centric is a plus.
- Hands-on experience with 3D design software such as CLO or Browzwear is required or strongly preferred.
- Familiarity with Gerber or similar patternmaking software is a plus.
- Ability to work with cross-functional teams and communicate effectively with international vendors.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple deadlines and seasonal calendars.
