Employment Type: Full-Time
Location: Need someone in the Maryland or Virginia area
– day to day is remote but will require approximately 10 in office days per year

Position Summary

We are seeking a strategic, relationship-driven Account Director to lead a portfolio of client accounts across Maryland and Virginia. This role owns the development and delivery of integrated marketing strategies, strengthens senior-level client partnerships, guides cross-functional teams, and supports account profitability and growth.

What You’ll Do

  • Lead strategic planning, client communications, and day-to-day account management for a portfolio of approximately three to five accounts.
  • Translate client business objectives into clear, actionable marketing and communications strategies.
  • Direct the development and execution of integrated campaigns across digital, social, print, direct mail, broadcast, point-of-sale, and other relevant channels.
  • Develop and manage scopes of work, project plans, budgets, timelines, and forecasts to support account profitability.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to senior client stakeholders by identifying opportunities, anticipating needs, and delivering thoughtful recommendations.
  • Partner with creative, media, digital, and production teams to deliver high-quality work on time and within budget.
  • Present strategic recommendations, campaign plans, performance updates, and new ideas with confidence and clarity.
  • Identify opportunities to expand client relationships through proactive planning, referrals, and value-added services.
  • Contribute to new-business efforts through research, strategic input, proposal development, and presentations.
  • Monitor marketing trends, competitive activity, and emerging technologies to bring relevant insights to clients and internal teams.
  • Mentor and support junior account team members while fostering a collaborative, accountable working environment.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, business, or a related field; equivalent professional experience will be considered.
  • Five to seven years of agency or client-services experience, including leadership of integrated marketing initiatives.
  • At least three years of management, leadership, or team-development experience.
  • Demonstrated expertise in strategic account management, relationship management, project management, and budget oversight.
  • Experience working across both digital and traditional marketing channels.
  • Strong understanding of performance marketing and the ability to connect marketing activity to measurable business outcomes.
  • Excellent written, verbal, presentation, and client-facing communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities, navigate changing client needs, and remain composed under tight deadlines.
  • Proactive, resourceful, solutions-oriented approach with strong attention to detail.
  • Collaborative leadership style with the ability to work independently and contribute effectively to a high-performing team.
