Job description

Associate Designer – Women’s Wovens, RTW

Position Summary: Contemporary brand seeking a creative, organized, and detail-oriented Associate Designer to join the team. This role will support the Senior Designer in the seasonal development of women’s wovens, with exposure to soft wovens, tailoring, cut-and-sew knits, and related categories.

The ideal candidate brings a strong eye for women’s fashion, color, print, proportion, and silhouette, along with the technical ability to create sketches, CADs, and tech packs. This is a hands-on, sketch- and product-development-focused role for a designer who thrives in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.

Responsibilities

  • Support the Senior Designer throughout the seasonal development process for women’s woven collections.
  • Assist with design development across soft wovens, tailoring, cut-and-sew knits, and additional product categories.
  • Research fashion trends, competitive market activity, color direction, prints, fabrics, silhouettes, and seasonal opportunities.
  • Create technical sketches, CADs, line art, and tech packs using Adobe Illustrator and/or Procreate.
  • Assist with seasonal print development, concept boards, design presentations, and trend materials.
  • Build, update, and maintain line sheets, development trackers, and seasonal planning documents.
  • Track fabric and trim submissions, lab dips, strike-offs, approvals, samples, and development milestones.
  • Maintain organized development files, including lab dips, strike-offs, trims, and sample materials.
  • Prepare CAD boards and presentation materials for seasonal reviews and internal meetings.
  • Take detailed meeting notes and follow up on action items to help keep development timelines on track.
  • Collaborate daily with Product Development, Merchandising, Production, Technical Design, and overseas vendors.
  • Monitor sample status and help ensure product execution remains aligned with design intent and seasonal deadlines.

Qualifications

  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Fashion Design or a related field.
  • 2-3 years of apparel design experience, preferably within women’s apparel.
  • Experience designing women’s wovens, including soft wovens and tailoring; broader category experience is a plus.
  • Strong proficiency in Adobe Illustrator; proficiency in Photoshop and Procreate is highly preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to create technical sketches, CADs, and detailed tech packs.
  • Strong eye for color, print, fabric, proportion, silhouette, and commercial product opportunities.
  • Highly organized with excellent attention to detail, follow-through, and sample-management skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong verbal, written, presentation, and cross-functional communication skills.
