Associate Designer – Women’s Wovens, RTW
Position Summary: Contemporary brand seeking a creative, organized, and detail-oriented Associate Designer to join the team. This role will support the Senior Designer in the seasonal development of women’s wovens, with exposure to soft wovens, tailoring, cut-and-sew knits, and related categories.
The ideal candidate brings a strong eye for women’s fashion, color, print, proportion, and silhouette, along with the technical ability to create sketches, CADs, and tech packs. This is a hands-on, sketch- and product-development-focused role for a designer who thrives in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
Responsibilities
- Support the Senior Designer throughout the seasonal development process for women’s woven collections.
- Assist with design development across soft wovens, tailoring, cut-and-sew knits, and additional product categories.
- Research fashion trends, competitive market activity, color direction, prints, fabrics, silhouettes, and seasonal opportunities.
- Create technical sketches, CADs, line art, and tech packs using Adobe Illustrator and/or Procreate.
- Assist with seasonal print development, concept boards, design presentations, and trend materials.
- Build, update, and maintain line sheets, development trackers, and seasonal planning documents.
- Track fabric and trim submissions, lab dips, strike-offs, approvals, samples, and development milestones.
- Maintain organized development files, including lab dips, strike-offs, trims, and sample materials.
- Prepare CAD boards and presentation materials for seasonal reviews and internal meetings.
- Take detailed meeting notes and follow up on action items to help keep development timelines on track.
- Collaborate daily with Product Development, Merchandising, Production, Technical Design, and overseas vendors.
- Monitor sample status and help ensure product execution remains aligned with design intent and seasonal deadlines.
Qualifications
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Fashion Design or a related field.
- 2-3 years of apparel design experience, preferably within women’s apparel.
- Experience designing women’s wovens, including soft wovens and tailoring; broader category experience is a plus.
- Strong proficiency in Adobe Illustrator; proficiency in Photoshop and Procreate is highly preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to create technical sketches, CADs, and detailed tech packs.
- Strong eye for color, print, fabric, proportion, silhouette, and commercial product opportunities.
- Highly organized with excellent attention to detail, follow-through, and sample-management skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong verbal, written, presentation, and cross-functional communication skills.
