Buyer, Women’s Denim
We’re seeking a merchant-minded Buyer to lead the strategy and execution for a women’s denim business. This person will own assortment planning, vendor partnerships, pricing strategy, and inventory decisions to drive growth, margin, and customer relevance. The ideal candidate brings a strong eye for product, a sharp understanding of market movement, and the ability to turn data into commercially successful decisions.
What You’ll Do
- Own the buying strategy for the women’s denim category, building assortments that reflect customer demand, trend direction, and financial goals.
- Select products that support seasonal and long-range business objectives across key classifications, fits, washes, and price points.
- Manage vendor relationships, including business reviews, cost negotiations, delivery expectations, and overall performance.
- Partner closely with planning and allocation teams to manage inventory flow, optimize stock levels, and react to sales performance.
- Monitor category results including sales, margin, turn, and sell-through, and adjust strategies to improve performance.
- Analyze market activity, competitive trends, and customer preferences to identify opportunities and risks within the denim business.
- Work cross-functionally with design, merchandising, marketing, finance, and supply chain teams to ensure alignment on product and business priorities.
- Support the development of junior team members by providing direction, feedback, and day-to-day coaching when applicable.
What We’re Looking For
- 3–5 years of experience in buying, merchandising, or a related retail product role.
- Category experience in denim, apparel, or trend-driven product businesses preferred.
- Strong product judgment with the ability to balance style, customer demand, and financial performance.
- Proven skill in vendor management, negotiation, and assortment building.
- Comfort working with sales data, inventory metrics, margin targets, and forecasting tools.
- Strong collaboration skills and the ability to influence cross-functional partners.
- Organized, adaptable, and confident making decisions in a fast-paced environment.
- Demonstrated leadership potential, sound judgment, and a high level of professionalism.
