Job description

Buyer, Women’s Denim

We’re seeking a merchant-minded Buyer to lead the strategy and execution for a women’s denim business. This person will own assortment planning, vendor partnerships, pricing strategy, and inventory decisions to drive growth, margin, and customer relevance. The ideal candidate brings a strong eye for product, a sharp understanding of market movement, and the ability to turn data into commercially successful decisions.

What You’ll Do

  • Own the buying strategy for the women’s denim category, building assortments that reflect customer demand, trend direction, and financial goals.
  • Select products that support seasonal and long-range business objectives across key classifications, fits, washes, and price points.
  • Manage vendor relationships, including business reviews, cost negotiations, delivery expectations, and overall performance.
  • Partner closely with planning and allocation teams to manage inventory flow, optimize stock levels, and react to sales performance.
  • Monitor category results including sales, margin, turn, and sell-through, and adjust strategies to improve performance.
  • Analyze market activity, competitive trends, and customer preferences to identify opportunities and risks within the denim business.
  • Work cross-functionally with design, merchandising, marketing, finance, and supply chain teams to ensure alignment on product and business priorities.
  • Support the development of junior team members by providing direction, feedback, and day-to-day coaching when applicable.

What We’re Looking For

  • 3–5 years of experience in buying, merchandising, or a related retail product role.
  • Category experience in denim, apparel, or trend-driven product businesses preferred.
  • Strong product judgment with the ability to balance style, customer demand, and financial performance.
  • Proven skill in vendor management, negotiation, and assortment building.
  • Comfort working with sales data, inventory metrics, margin targets, and forecasting tools.
  • Strong collaboration skills and the ability to influence cross-functional partners.
  • Organized, adaptable, and confident making decisions in a fast-paced environment.
  • Demonstrated leadership potential, sound judgment, and a high level of professionalism.
