We’re partnering with a growing fashion client seeking a Sweater Designer with strong juniors apparel experience and a background in sweaters and cut & sew product to join their team. This is an excellent opportunity for a designer with an off-price background who understands trend-driven product development across juniors, missy, and contemporary categories and thrives in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.

Position Overview

The Sweater Designer will support the full product lifecycle from initial concept through final development, partnering cross-functionally with merchandising, production, technical design, and external vendors to bring trend-right product to market. This role requires a strong creative eye, technical product knowledge, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a deadline-driven environment.

Key Responsibilities:
• Design and execute new product concepts through trend research, market analysis, competitive shopping, and sales performance insights
• Research and stay current on seasonal fashion trends, silhouettes, colors, fabrics, yarns, trims, and embellishments
• Create sketches, CADs, line sheets, trend boards, and product presentations
• Develop detailed tech packs including flats, measurements, construction details, fabrics, and trims
• Source and approve fabrics, yarns, prints, trims, and development samples through production
• Attend fittings to ensure proper fit, aesthetic, and production execution
• Partner cross-functionally with Production, Technical Design, buyers, and external vendors
• Prepare samples, picture packets, and presentations for buyer meetings and sales support
• Support e-commerce worksheets and seasonal development organization

Qualifications:
• 5+ years of apparel design experience
• Sweater design experience strongly preferred
• Strong understanding of garment construction and technical product development
• Proficiency in Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, Microsoft Excel, and Word
• Excellent trend awareness, sketching ability, fabric knowledge, and creative problem-solving skills
• Strong communication, organization, and follow-through skills
• AA degree in Fashion Design required
