About the Role
A leading apparel brand is seeking an Assistant Technical Designer to support the Technical Design team in a fast-paced, high-volume environment. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with foundational technical design experience who is looking to further develop their skills while working closely with senior leadership and cross-functional teams.
This role will support the day-to-day technical design process, including fittings, sample management, measurements, fit documentation, and category ownership within active / performance apparel. The ideal candidate is highly organized, detail-oriented, proactive, and comfortable working in a collaborative environment with shifting priorities.
Key Responsibilities
• Assist Senior Technical Designers and Technical Design leadership with day-to-day technical design execution
• Prepare garments, specs, fit samples, and supporting materials for weekly fittings
• Measure development and fit samples accurately and ensure consistency against approved specifications
• Attend fittings, take detailed fit notes, and communicate revisions clearly to patternmakers and internal teams
• Support technical fit corrections and assist in tracking updates throughout the development process
• Manage and maintain the seasonal fit sample library, ensuring all samples are organized, labeled, and archived appropriately
• Own assigned product categories, including Sweatshirts / Pullovers, while supporting additional categories as business needs evolve
• Assist with spec updates, fit documentation, technical package maintenance, and internal file organization
• Partner cross-functionally with Design, Product Development, Production, Merchandising, and Technical teams to support seasonal development timelines
• Help troubleshoot fit, construction, and sample issues as they arise
• Support special projects and ad hoc departmental initiatives as needed
• Ensure deadlines are met while maintaining a high level of accuracy and organization
Qualifications
• 1–3 years of Technical Design experience within apparel
• Strong understanding of garment construction, fit, pattern corrections, and technical design processes
• Experience supporting fittings, measuring garments, and documenting technical revisions
• Knowledge of activewear / performance apparel construction and fabrics strongly preferred
• Proficiency in Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, and Acrobat
• Strong Microsoft Office skills required
• Experience with PLM and/or PDM systems preferred
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Strong organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail
• Ability to prioritize multiple projects and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
• Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently while collaborating with a larger team
• Positive attitude, strong work ethic, and willingness to jump in where needed
