Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Outerwear/Jacket Designer for an urgent freelance assignment within the fashion and apparel industry. This role will support seasonal product development over a 2–3 month engagement, creating commercially relevant outerwear and jacket designs that balance trend direction, product quality, fit, and customer appeal.

Key Responsibilities

  • Create design sketches, technical flats, colorways, mood boards, and presentation materials.
  • Research seasonal trends, silhouettes, fabrications, trims, washes, embellishments, and competitive product.
  • Translate design concepts into clear direction for construction details, fit, finishes, and materials.
  • Collaborate with merchandising, technical design, sourcing, and production partners throughout development.
  • Review samples, identify revisions, and communicate updates to support quality, fit, and design intent.
  • Manage multiple priorities and deliver polished work within accelerated development timelines.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience designing women’s outerwear and jackets in a fashion apparel environment.
  • Strong knowledge of garment construction, fabrication, trims, fit, and product development processes.
  • Proficiency in Adobe Illustrator; Photoshop and PLM experience are preferred.

  • Ability to work independently, take creative direction, and adapt quickly in a fast-paced setting.
  • A portfolio demonstrating relevant outerwear or jacket design work is required.
