Retail Rollout Project Manager
We are looking for a seasoned freelance project leader to guide a multi-site retail rollout focused on physical store environments and shop-in-shop installations. This assignment is ideal for someone with a strong foundation in retail construction, architectural coordination, and schedule management who can keep complex programs moving from planning through execution.
This position is centered on build delivery rather than event production. The right person will be confident managing timelines, aligning drawing and permit workflows, and coordinating communication across design teams, contractors, fabricators, venue partners, and stakeholder groups. Success in this role requires a proactive mindset, attention to detail, and the ability to keep multiple moving parts organized in a fast-paced setting.
Engagement Details
- Freelance engagement lasting approximately 3–4 months
- Roughly 40 hours per week
- Interview process expected to include 1–2 rounds
- Seeking candidates with about 5–10 years of relevant experience
- Must be comfortable using Google Workspace, Google Drive, and Monday.com
- Contractor should have access to their own laptop
What You’ll Do
- Build, maintain, and update master schedules for several concurrent retail rollout projects
- Turn evolving requirements into clear action plans, milestone calendars, and delivery timelines
- Track dependencies, sequencing issues, and deadline changes across multiple locations
- Coordinate with internal teams and external partners to keep design, fabrication, permitting, construction, and installation efforts aligned
- Communicate schedule updates, risks, and progress clearly to both execution teams and leadership stakeholders
- Support permit coordination by helping align submission timing and drawing package readiness
- Work closely with production and fabrication teams to help maintain momentum and resolve blockers
- Monitor project health and escalate delays or conflicts before they impact delivery
- Help ensure architectural and construction milestones stay synchronized throughout the rollout process
What We’re Looking For
- 5–10 years of experience in project management within retail architecture, store development, tenant improvement, or construction-focused environments
- Demonstrated success managing retail build schedules and coordinating real-world execution
- Experience supporting permit-related workflows, including drawing set readiness and submission coordination
- Ability to collaborate across a broad stakeholder group, including designers, consultants, contractors, vendors, and client-side teams
- Comfort operating in an environment where priorities and timelines may shift quickly
- Strong working knowledge of Google Workspace, Google Drive, and especially Monday.com
- Excellent organizational, follow-up, and communication skills
- Availability to work West Coast business hours, including early morning PST meetings as needed
This is a strong opportunity for a hands-on project manager who enjoys bringing structure to complex retail build programs and keeping high-visibility projects on track from concept coordination through final installation.
