Key Responsibilities:
· Responsible for the design process, including market research, design, and guidance through fabric execution processes for Little Girl, Tween, and Baby collections across all categories including wovens, sweaters, and C&S
· Research seasonal trends, silhouettes, materials, and novelty techniques; bring new ideas through competitive shopping, research, and attending local vintage shows
· Develop seasonal collections in partnership with Merchandising, the Senior Design Director, and VP of Design from concept through completion
· Design into groups/styles that leverage qualities and concepts from womenswear and adapt them for Little Girl and Tween categories; additionally supplement with new standalone concepts specific to these categories
· Versatile in designing across all categories including dresses, tops, jackets, outerwear, bottoms, occasion dressing, sweaters, fleece, active, swim, and C&S
· Communicate comments for fabrics, combos, linings, mockups, embellishments, and other developments to overseas factories; troubleshoot and work with the team to ensure developments meet design standards
· Work on visual presentations for key meetings, ensuring boards and decks effectively communicate and align with the brand language; maintain updated flat sketches, CADs, layouts, and fabric development information
· Track the status of developments, ensure outstanding questions are resolved, and strategically plan workload to meet calendar goals
· Manage tech pack passing and adoption schedules; coordinate meeting scheduling and preparation
· Problem-solve calendar, deadline, and other issues with cross-department partners including Product Development, Production, and the Senior Design Director
· Be a detail-oriented, organized self-starter who can own every aspect of the design development process from concept to production
· Demonstrate strong knowledge of technical aspects of garment development including sketching, construction, and fit
· Initiate and supervise trim development and sourcing
· Prepare and ensure accuracy of tech packs and comments from initial concept through production; responsible for launching development tech packs
· Attend bulk fittings and work with Technical Designers and Production to maintain design concept, fit, and quality standards throughout the production process
· Oversee production trim and fabric approvals
Qualifications:
· 5–9 years of experience in a design environment
· High taste level and strong creative ability
· Exceptional design and fit sense
· Skilled in hand drawing or Procreate for flats
· Computer skills: proficient in Excel, Photoshop, and/or Illustrator; familiarity with Canva or other similar presentation programs
· Ability to think creatively in three dimensions and envision how designs will execute
· Knowledgeable in technical aspects of construction; experienced working with overseas development and able to allocate work to tailors
· Excellent verbal and written communication skills and strong interpersonal skills in a team environment
· Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
· Exemplary time management and project management skills
· Strong follow-through; proactive, highly organized, and detail-oriented
· Strong planning and organizational skills with a sense of priority for deadlines and attention to detail
