Associate Technical Designer, Women's Wovens

Client Overview: Our client is a celebrated authority in the design and manufacturing of contemporary ready-to-wear, outerwear, and leather clothing. The company is known for its popular brands which are featured in major retailers including Nordstrom, Bloomingdales, Macy’s, Urban Outfitters, and more.


Position Overview: The Associate Technical Designer will support the Technical Design team with all aspects of the Technical Design department from concept to production for all apparel categories.

Technical Designer Responsibilities:
  • Oversee assigned categories from development through final top of production samples.
  • Manage time and action calendar for production.
  • Partner with Design, Production, and suppliers to establish fit blocs, specs, quality and construction standards.
  • Communicate with vendors to review samples, help troubleshoot issues, build strong partnerships with key focus on fit, process and quality and understand factories capabilities.
  • Lead fittings and monitor fit stages while adhering to the production calendar.
  • Monitor and identify potential production, quality, and cost issues and provide recommendations while adhering to brand integrity.
Technical Designer Qualifications:
  • 2-4 years of technical design experience, womenswear a must.
  • Four-year college or university degree with emphasis on clothing technology or manufacturing.
  • Strong experience in wovens, knits, outerwear, sportswear, denim, suiting, leather and faux leather and dresses.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal In-depth knowledge of fit, garment construction, and finishing.
  • Superior organizational and communication skills, team oriented, results oriented.
  • Extreme attention to detail and accuracy as well as ability to multitask, prioritize and meet deadlines.
  • Strong pattern making, sewing and technical skills.
  • Strong computer skills, e.g. MS Office, adobe illustrator.
  • Experience working with overseas factories.
