Freelance Associate Designer - Women's RTWClient Overview: Client is a designer and manufacturer of women’s apparel.
Position Overview: We are looking for a motivated and talented designer to join our team. Candidate should be well versed in both woven and knit fabrications and have worked in contemporary fashion.
Associate Designer Responsibilities:
- Identify new trends, innovations, opportunities, and lead the creation of seasonal design concepts to final product
- Must have experience in the build out of a balanced and merchandised line
- Provide reliable and responsible support to the Design Director
- Assist in sourcing new fabrics for each season
- Draw accurate flat sketches and detailed sketches for season presentation and technical packages
- Attend fit sessions
- Day to day upkeep of filing and organization
- Tracking and following up on sample development charts to ensure that they are produced correctly and on time
- Assist in preparing showrooms for presentation to buyers
- Shop local markets for inspiration
Associate Designer Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Fashion Design
- 0-3 years of design experience in women’s contemporary fashion
- Must have advanced skills in Photoshop and Illustrator
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel
- Ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks to meet strict deadlines in a fast-paced work environment
- Must be a team player as well as able to work independently
- Highly organized and detail oriented
- Positive and professional attitude
