Junior Industrial Designer
Prefers people in driving distance of Raleigh, NC (2 hour radius)

This brand has a great story! They have artisan projects in Thailand, India and Nepal. Their materials are sustainably sourced and they have zero-waste!  They are looking for someone starting their industrial design career that is hungry to work hard and make a difference in the industry. You will primarily be designing footwear (think flip flops and slides!), but they also have tea-towels, scarves and gloves. The Associate Designer has a firm understanding of brand DNA and brings a strong point of view and fresh ideas to the design of their collections. Hopefully, you bring experience from the footwear and accessories industry and technical knowledge of design specifications.

Role Responsibilities:
  • Provide Footwear and Accessories trends and market insights which translate into innovative Designs across a variety of categories.
  • Provide knowledge of materials, trims, trends in Footwear and Accessories.
  • Work with Creative Team to prepare for all design presentations to show creative vision for each collection
  • Create both stylized and technical sketches for each collection.
  • With strong understanding of technical constructions, create technical packs for factories to execute design vision.
  • Create digital CADs of footwear and accessories designs for internal design meetings and sales teams.
  • Manage relationships and timelines with suppliers. 

Role Qualifications:
  • Strong understanding of the  customer and competitive space.
  • Ability to research and report on industry trend direction, color direction, trim, and material innovations approximately 9-12 months ahead of season.
  • Working knowledge of footwear and accessories manufacturing techniques and processes.
  • Excellent organizational and project management skills.  This person will directly manage the manufacturing and samples timelines and be in direct communication with our suppliers. 
  • Ability to sketch or to communicate design ideas in technically accurate and compelling ways.
  • Fluency with Adobe Creative Suite: InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, 
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to effectively collaborate with partners in Merchandising, Production, and Design.
  • Ability to respond to business objectives with creative, innovative, and cost-effective design solutions.
  • Ability to clearly communicate to overseas vendors.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Fashion or Footwear Design or related field preferred.
  • Some domestic and international travel may be required.
