Job Description: Senior Technical Designer/Patternmaker (Swimwear)Onsite in Orange County.
Swimwear client is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Technical Designer/Patternmaker with a strong background in swimwear design. This role will be responsible for creating and developing technical designs and patterns for our swimwear brand.
Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with the design team to develop innovative and trend-forward swimwear designs.
- Create detailed technical sketches and specifications for prototypes, ensuring accuracy and adherence to brand standards.
- Develop comprehensive tech packs including graded specs, construction details, trim requirements, and other technical documentation.
- Conduct fittings on live models or mannequins to evaluate fit, comfort, functionality, and overall quality of the garments.
- Make necessary adjustments to patterns based on fit feedback from fittings.
- Collaborate with overseas manufacturers to ensure accurate execution of designs during production process.
- Stay up-to-date with industry trends, new technologies, materials, techniques related to swimwear design.
Requirements:
- Minimum 5 years of experience as a Technical Designer/Patternmaker in the swimwear industry is required.
- Strong knowledge of patternmaking principles specific to swimwear construction.
- Proficient in using CAD software such as Adobe Illustrator or similar programs for creating technical sketches.
- Solid understanding of garment construction methods and ability to create accurate tech packs.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to effectively communicate ideas visually through sketches or verbally during fittings/collaborations.
- Detail-oriented mindset with excellent problem-solving skills when it comes to fit issues or production challenges.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience working in young/contemporary/surf market brands would be highly desirable.
