Job Description:We are seeking a talented and passionate Sports Writer with a deep knowledge and understanding of Major League Soccer (MLS) to join our client team. As a Sports Writer, you will play a crucial role in creating engaging and informative content related to soccer for various platforms and channels.
Responsibilities:
1. Research and stay up-to-date with the latest news, trends, and developments in the soccer industry.
2. Write compelling and accurate articles, blog posts, and other written content that showcases your expertise in soccer.
3. Collaborate with the Copy team to develop creative and engaging copy for marketing materials, advertisements, and promotional campaigns related to soccer.
4. Conduct interviews with players, coaches, and other relevant individuals within the soccer community to gather insights and quotes for articles and features.
5. Edit and proofread written content to ensure accuracy, clarity, and adherence to brand’s voice and guidelines.
6. Collaborate with designers, photographers, and videographers to create multimedia content that complements written articles and enhances the overall user experience.
7. Monitor and analyze the performance of soccer-related content to identify areas for improvement and optimize engagement and readership.
8. Stay informed about SEO best practices and implement strategies to increase the visibility and reach of soccer content on search engines.
9. Attend soccer matches, events, and press conferences to gather firsthand information and build relationships within the soccer community.
10. Collaborate with other teams such as Marketing and Social Media, to ensure consistent messaging and cross-promotion of soccer content.
Qualifications:
1. Bachelor's degree in Journalism, Communications, or a related field.
2. Proven experience as a sports writer, preferably with a focus on soccer.
3. Excellent writing and editing skills, with the ability to adapt the tone and style of writing to different platforms and target audiences.
4. Strong knowledge of soccer, including teams, players, rules, and current trends.
5. Familiarity with digital publishing platforms, content management systems, and SEO best practices.
6. Ability to work independently and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
7. Strong attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy in reporting.
8. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to conduct interviews and build relationships with individuals within the soccer community.
