Our client is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Staff Software Engineer with expertise in Embedded Linux and OSTree. In this role, you will be responsible for designing and implementing OSTree-based firmware update mechanisms to ensure secure and reliable firmware updates for the client’s embedded systems. You will also work on optimizing update processes using OSTree to minimize bandwidth and time.


- Designing and implementing OSTree-based firmware update mechanisms.
- Ensuring secure and reliable firmware updates for embedded systems.
- Developing strategies for optimizing update processes using OSTree.
- Implementing delta updates using OSTree.
- Customizing Yocto/OpenEmbedded build frameworks for embedded Linux systems.
- Optimizing build processes for efficiency and scalability.
- Designing and maintaining Yocto recipes and layers for custom applications/components.
- Ensuring modularity and maintainability of the Yocto build system.
- Contributing to Linux Kernel internals to improve system performance.
- Collaborating with cross-functional teams on kernel-level features/optimizations.


To be successful in this role, you should meet the following qualifications:

- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field (Master's degree preferred).
- 8+ years of related experience in embedded software development.
- Proven industry experience in OSTree-based firmware updates, delta updates, Yocto/OpenEmbedded build frameworks, Yocto recipe/layer design, and Linux Kernel internals.
- In-depth knowledge of OSTree-based firmware updates implementation
- Experience implementing delta updates using OSTre
- Proficiency in Yocto/OpenEmbedded build frameworks
- Strong expertise in creating Yocto recipes/layers
- Solid understanding of Linux Kernel internals
- Knowledge of version control systems (e.g., Git)
- Strong problem-solving and debugging skills.
