Overview & Key Responsibilities
  • The VP Retail is responsible for managing the overall performance of all retail stores in line with the business strategy (standalone, outlet and concession ). 
  • The role is accountable for maximizing profitable sales and reaching sales targets for the Retail. This will be achieved through developing and implementing tactical plans, providing the leadership necessary to deliver outstanding customer service, excellence in people management, visual merchandise management and the effective control of inventory and all associated costs (store, Area Managers, VM, other).
  • This includes, implementation of strategies, managing projects, team leadership, implementing change, driving sales and profitability, coaching and leading the stores teams, and developing a positive and passionate business culture.
  • This also includes overseeing cost controlling and liaising with Finance on controlling issues.
  • The role requires an individual, who is results driven, demonstrates initiative and can work closely with the CEO, Brand Comms, B&M and Logistics team to develop the business and achieve the required financial outcomes.
  • Time will be spent split between in the office and out in stores and managing a team of Area Managers and the Visual Merchandising Manager

Sales & Financials:
  • Plan, develop and Implement Retail Strategy including relocation/expansion strategy, targeting key market locations opening or expanding current locations, achieving profitable return
  • Accountable for the sales results
  • Drives sales and margin and cost control initiatives with Area Managers
  • Setting and review of sales and expense budgets and controlling’s’ targets/ planning
  • Contribute towards the effective leadership of the organization by working with colleagues throughout the organization to identify and deliver ways of improving operational excellence and cost structure
  • Work with the CEO and Finance to prepare budgets, reports, and forecasts
  • Monitor, adhere and direct the team to achieve the store targets for each of the following:
    • Stock control/inventory management
    • Gross Margin
    • Manage controllable expenses (e.g. wages)
    • Monitor and control all repairs and maintenance expenditure plans

Operational Excellence:
  • Devise and implement annual Retail business plan in line with the business strategy, responsible for the consistent delivery of the brand message across N/A
  • Devise and implement effective Retail Operations tools ie. Communication tools, policies and procedures
  • Delivery of world class KPI’s
  • Lead, develop, grow and maintain a world class CRM/clientele program supporting and regularly communicating to customers the brand messages and stores local market activities
  • Lead and develop a world class retail customer experience culture with stores focused on expertise, efficiency, brand knowledge, brand values incorporating a customer returns program that exceeds customers’ expectations.
  • Monitor, measure and report in Retail operational issues.
  • Oversee Workplace safety and compliance with OH&S regulations
  • Follow reasonable instruction and standard safe workplace procedures
  • Ensure that all issues that pose a threat to the safety of employees are reported and rectified accordingly
  • Participate in H&S improvement initiatives

People Leadership:
  • Lead and develop in partnership with People team, employee development and training program including leadership, management, commercial and best in service initiatives to deliver a high performance culture
  • Establish performance goals for all direct reports and monitor performance on a continuous basis
  • Ensure Induction framework is in place for all new team members
  • Monitor and manage learning & development requirements and implement activities as required.
  • Coaching & leadership development of direct reports
  • Conduct appraisals for direct reports
  • Alongside People team to  interview for any senior vacancies within the team
  • Implement & adhere to all HR policies
  • Motivates and recognizes the contributions of direct reports

Merchandise Management:
  • Partner with B&M N/A to ensure buys for each retail location is commercially sensible
  • Ensure stock management is optimal to maximize sales an minimize loss through shrinkage
  • Validate all marketing opportunities to ensure they are commercially viable
  • Achieve and ensure world class stock take results and ensure company policies and procedures are met
