Client Overview: Our client is a trendy women's clothing brand that creates vibrant and colorful apparel for all seasons.
Women's Designer Overview: The senior designer collaborates with the design director to create a cohesive seasonal collection by trend research, developing sketch, tech pack, fabric and technique developments, participating in fits, and communicating with the samples room and production factories.
Women's Designer Responsibilities:
- Collaborate in designing women’s styles following seasonal creative direction.
- Design and sketch styles with offerings across categories and occasions
- Collaborate with pattern makers + sample makers to guide first toiles and proportions to completion in final samples.
- Aid Merchandising Team and Design director during department introduction to new season
- Understand collection direction, overview, and suggest missed opportunities.
- Review weekly sales reports to understand performance of styles and fabrications.
- Attend development fittings with patternmakers and creative director to develop prototypes and final samples.
- Attend production fittings to maintain design’s intentions whilst troubleshooting any production issues
- Conduct market research to determine trends, materials, silhouettes, and trim details to incorporate into product lines.
- Evaluate collection standing and sketch + refabricate to support seasonal objectives within line plan/SKU count.
- Collaborate with production team to negotiate pricing, assist the director to source new fabrics, trims, and maintain customer delivery dates.
- Work with factories to develop new items, source new products and vendors, and maintain factory relationships.
- Follow garment to production with Production Managers – ensuring correct development + color allocation applied to each body
Women's Designer Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree preferred
- 5+ years of experience in women's contemporary apparel
- Must be able to travel internationally six times a year
- Must have Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop skills
