Freelance Value Brand Strategist (Middle America)

 

Client Overview: 
Our client needs a Freelance (available ASAP) Value Strategist. They are an internal creative team for a market leader in the beverage space. This group represents the integration of the “madmen” and the “mathmen” thinking. They are seeking a multi-skilled, passionate, and hands-on marketer who believes the way to build brands is drastically changing and wants to be a part of the team driving that revolution.

 

Description: 
Looking for a Strategist to work cross-functionally between the team's Strategy, Creative, Production, Social Listening and Analytics, Media partners, Brand, and partner agencies to craft insights-driven strategies that increase the cultural relevancy of our Brands. This person will be a highly creative problem solver adept at liaising between teams to execute key strategic deliverables with exceptional quality and proficient speed. The candidate must be able to work in a fast-paced environment with the ability to take ownership of their work and demonstrate strong abilities to effectively communicate between multiple groups. 

 

Key Responsibilities:
•    Build and maintain partnership with Brand teams and agency partners as day-to-day liaison
•    Become steward of dedicated Brand(s), ensuring full comprehension of business challenges and objectives  
•    Provide data-driven insights and creative thought-starters during briefing process 
•    Shape the development of work with sound creative, channel mix, and measurement feedback and recommendations 
•    Support in setting strategic agenda for the brand team
•    Understand platform/channel nuances and ensure team adherence to best practices 
•    Analyze content performance metrics and action optimizations 

 

Experience/Required Skills:
•    Bachelor’s degree in related field
•    5+ years’ experience
•    Account management experience preferred 
•    Social/digital expertise 
•    Alcohol/Beverage/CPG experience preferred 
•    Good communication and leadership skills
•    Experience using project management tools
•    Hispanic marketing strategy experience is a plus

 

- Additional Notes - 
•    Understanding of Middle America culture (vs. someone who only understands NYC culture)
•    Some basic understanding or exposure to passion points associated with those regions like fishing, hunting, Nascar
•    Understanding or exposure to value brands
•    Has an out-going nature that has experience with some account roles (vs. strategy only with only internal experience). We need someone who would feel comfortable reaching out to the brand stakeholders and building a relationship
•    Experience being "scrappy" - this team doesn’t have big budgets, so someone who has experience grabbing consumer attention (preferably PR headlines) with would be an asset here
•    Experience with PR would be a plus, because the team is constantly looking for PR headlines as primary KPIs
•    Understanding of organic social (some paid social would also be good, since it will make this person transferrable to other roles later, but not as completely critical to this role as some of our other brands)
