About the role:

Our client is seeking a full-time Content Marketing Director to simultaneously deliver on the content & SEO goals. They are looking for a data-driven, outside the box thinking leader to build a scalable and repeatable machine for creating, publishing, promoting, and optimizing content throughout our entire customer funnel. You’ll work intimately with our CMO, Marketing Director, SEO Director, and other members of our leadership team to turn content marketing into a key pillar of our acquisition, engagement, and monetization strategy for both businesses. You’ll lead and manage the team that makes our content engaging and relevant to our existing and potential customers.

Please note: this role involves both strategy and execution. This is a role for doers who want to roll up their sleeves and get their hands dirty.

What is expected: 

  • Work side-by-side our CMO, Director of SEO, and Marketing Director to refine and evolve our content strategy for both businesses across all customer-facing channels and content formats
  • Optimize our existing content curation / creation processes for greater output and efficiency
  • Optimize our blog as a channel for lead-generation and conversion from browser to customer and from customer to brand loyalist
  • Oversee content distribution and amplification; experiment with new tactics and optimize what works (you must be data & analytics driven in your approach to content)
  • Assist in writing, editing, and optimizing promotional copy, blog posts, guest posts, press releases, email onboarding campaigns, customer service-related copy and other customer-facing materials
  • Stay on top of medical and recreational cannabis trends and knowledge, and identify ways to keep content sticky and fresh
  • Lead, manage, coach (and occasionally recruit) a brilliant team of writers, editors, and content promoters


Your qualifications:

  • 5+ years of content creation, amplification, and optimization experience across a variety of channels, with strong ability to integrate SEO best practices
  • 3+ years managing a content team and editorial calendar, able to stay on schedule & meet deadlines consistently
  • Ability to adjust strategy and prioritize tactics in both resource-constrained and resource-abundant environments
  • Excellent managerial skills; you know how to motivate teams, identify & eliminate bottlenecks, and enhance productivity through new habits & routines
  • Strong experience working with a graphic designer to create rich, brand-building content
  • Strong experience with analytics tools and processes
  • Self-starter, highly motivated to succeed under minimal supervision
  • Experience with and/or passion for cannabis is preferred
