Associate Technical Designer Menswear


Overview - Highly motivated, detailed oriented associate technical designer who will partner with senior tech designer and associate tech designer to create and maintain technical packages for both sampling and production in our Men’s Sportswear and Bottoms division.



Responsibilities:
  • Work with design team & technical design team on product development. Follow up with designers on a daily basis on design details & garment construction.
  • Collaborate with production on fit sample issues
  • Complete technical packages with data entry, sketches and details using Excel, Photoshop and Illustrator.
  • Assist with measuring fit samples, pre-production samples, and buyer samples.
  • Prepare technical documents for production fitting.
  • Participate in fittings taking notes and photos and assist senior technical designer.
  • Issue fit comments to overseas with senior tech designer supervision.
  • Understand general specs & grading, construction & basic fit issues.
  • Comfortable with reviewing vendor patterns and collaborate on making fit adjustments to accommodate different fabrics and constructions.
  • Assist in booking fit model & manage fit time.
  • Work with agents/vendors and factories regarding contents of tech pack, corrections to samples and patterns.

Job requirement:
             
  • Relevant work experience as an assistant-associate Tech designer (2-4 years)
  • Advance user skills in Excel, Photoshop and Illustrator.
  • Understanding of creative design process.
  • Pattern making and garment construction knowledge
  • Ability to proactively troubleshoot and problem solve.
  • Ability to work in high volume department and interact with multiple cross functions.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Knowledge of knit and woven construction and fabric/trim.
  • Extreme attention to detail and well organized.
  • Menswear experience is an asset/preferred
  • Ideally BA in Fashion Design, Technical design or Product Development or similar training
