Job description
Our client, a tech accessories company is looking for a Design Engineer to join their team in a full time role. The role is based in Irvine and is hybrid/onsite a few days a week
Essential Job Functions
• Own the development of color/material/finish and the communication of these features to manufacturing partners
• Manage product testing of all categories and coordinate with external laboratories as needed
• Support the development of product renderings and required marketing materials
• Communicate design intent using 2D and 3D modeling tools (Fusion 360, photoshop, sketchbook etc)
• Familiarity with designing and bringing consumer goods (plastic as well as cut/sew) to market
• Create photo realistic product renderings for packaging, web, and print collateral
• Work directly or indirectly with other departments such as Graphics, and Marketing as needed.
• Translate 2D sketches into 3D models using 3D CAD software (SolidWorks preferred)
• Regularly conduct competitor benchmark product tear downs to create unique design solutions that will help to differentiate our product in the market
• Maintain product documentation as required (2D drawings/3D CAD/feedback/final design)
Required Skills and Experience
• Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Design or Mechanical Engineering
• 3-5 years of experience in a designing high volume consumer products
• Prior experience with plastic injection molding and manufacturing products in Asia
• Must be a quick study and excited about rolling up your sleeves and getting dirty
• Working knowledge of developing models in 3D using Solidworks
• Must be open to international travel
• The ability to communicate (spoke & written) in Mandarin is a plus
